    +Kinds of osu! Players+

Esper: Basically, they use keyboard and catch rhythm fruits falling from the sky. Espers are known for their ability to predict probabilities and such to guess where the next fruit will fall down, how much acceleration should be used in order to catch the fruit and watch anime videos while playing (Espers can do that at the same time). Their game mode is Catch The Beat.

By default, the left and right arrow keys are used to move the catcher. Pressing the left shift key with one of the arrow keys will make the catcher dash in that direction (indicated by a bright glow around the catcher).

Hyperdash is an automatically triggered gameplay element in Catch the Beat play mode, designed to obliterate "impossible jumps" (where two objects were previously impossible to catch because of the distance that separated them). It is automatically activated when obtaining a red glowing fruit (the first of an impossible pair) and stays active until you are in range of the second fruit, or have already missed it. It will speed you up a variable amount such that if you are dashing, you will always be able to make it to the destination in time.

You may use mouse control if you enable the relax mod.

Sliders leading into jumps is self explanatory. Players will be forced to move slowly on a track going left for about a second, then have to change speed, direction, and pacing in order to keep up.

Circle Streamer: They're the most common players in Osu. They usually use mouse to play but it works also with tablets and some other devices. Thanks to eye and hand coordination they click/tap circles and sliders-- they mostly rely on their ears, listening to the beat of the song. Their game mode is Osu!Standard
    How to play?
While most PC users won't have a touchscreen at their disposal (unless you are a lucky one to own a tablet PC), this game is made to be playable with a normal mouse, as well as any number of input devices you can possible think of (wiimote works quite well, as does a graphics tablet if you have one of them laying around). There are some songs which push the limits of the normal mouse, but all have been tested and are (somehow) passable using only a mouse. Please don't let the lack of a touchscreen deter you!

    Hit Circles
Here you can see the circles you have to tap. The smaller coloured circle on the outside shrinks and you have to hit the note at the exact point the outside circle overlaps with the white border. Don't rely on your eyes, though: listening to the music to decide the right moment is better.

    Sliders
Here we have a slider thrown into the mix. First, you have to hit it at the right moment, but it doesn't end there. A ball will start to move across the path you see. You have to hold the mousebutton and keep your pointer on the ball as it moves (you do not control the movement yourself). Sometimes, as in the screenshot above, you have to move back at the end of the path. You can tell by the reverse symbol at the end of the path.

    Spinners
A spinner is a large circle that takes up most of the play field when it appears. A blue ring like the approach circle of hit circles and sliders will also appear and begin to close on the spinner's centre. Players must hold down the hit button and spin their cursor about the center of the spinner. As players continue to spin, the spinner gauge at either side of the screen begins to fill, and once it has been filled, the player will be notified that the spinner has been cleared. Continued spins after this and until the blue ring reaches the spinner's centre will award bonus points.

    Gameplay example by Stipierrial

Meister: Don't bother unless you have godly eyes and fast hands. Their game mode is Taiko.

In this game mode, players hit the drum (or keyboard) in time with blue or red notes on the screen. Red notes indicate that you must hit the middle of the drum (x or c on keyboard controls) and blue notes indicate that you must hit the rims of the drum (z or v on keyboard controls). Large red or blue notes indicate that you have to hit both sides of the drum, middle or rim according to the color of the notes. Long yellow notes indicate a roll of either red or blue notes. These do not add to your combo or cause a combo break if you choose not to roll throughout the entire thing. However, different from Taiko no Tatsujin, there are upper limits of hits on the slider which is 4 times of the length of slider while it is 8 times of the length of the slider in songs that is equal or lower than BPM 125. If sliders were hit too fast, no hit is recorded during slider.

In the osu! variant of Taiko, red balloons and bells found in some versions of the console game have been removed and replaced with a shaker that mimic's the osu! spinner. This shaker requires the player to alternate between rim and middle to whittle down the number on the screen before the next set of notes appears. Unlike some other rhythm games, players can play random notes to the beat without fearing a point deduction, as long as other notes are not on the track.

Binder: They mainly use the keyboard. Anyone familiar with o2jam? It's the same, they're like guitar hero players, so no explanations needed. Their game mode is Osu!Mania.

osu!mania is a new game mode in osu! similar to Beatmania IIDX (as well as various DJMAX, Guitar Hero and other rhythm games that require more than 3 buttons) in which a player needs to press the specific buttons for the beat notes that are coming down. It is somewhat similar to Taiko (2), but with more buttons to press and notes moving downward rather than moving horizontally to the left.
