Hm, wonder if that means a possible special one-shot (there are at least several big mysteries left that could use a lot more detail, although we know the general ending) or something more long-term (spin-off, sequel, etc.). Not too surprising to hear a comment like that, given how many loose ends there were, but I'm not expecting anything soon at least. Maybe someday, hopefully.

There were a interview too, where he was protesting against a new contract for mangakas giving more rights to the publisher, including the power to process scans and doujinshi if they want to without consult the author. It give the impression that his current contract was close to expire and he didn't want to sign this contract, so his way to protest was end the manga before the contract. If all i said is true, a continuation depends of the publisher giving in or he cutting the ties he can with them.

If this post in the weekly discussion was true, then he really was forced by something to end prematurely.

I won't be surprised if he did bring back Negi in some capacity. How it ended left open a whole lot plot holes that didn't get filled.
